After much anticipation, the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) nominees were announced on Thursday.
Best Pop Video nominees are: Adele for “Rolling in the Deep,” Britney Spears for “Till the World Ends,” Bruno Mars for “Grenade,” Katy Perry for “Last Friday Night” and Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo, Nayer, and Afrojack for “Give Me Everything.”
Adele was nominated for four other awards including Best Female Video alongside Beyonce, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj and Video of the Year, whose other nominees include Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and the Beastie Boys.
Bruno Mars has earned a spot on the list for Best Male Video with Cee Lo Green, Eminem, Justin Bieber, and Kanye West. Kanye makes the list of Best Collaboration twice for “All of the Lights” with Rihanna and Kid Cudi and “E.T” with Katy Perry. Other nominees include Nicki Minaj with Drake for “Moment 4 Life,” Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo, Nayer, and Afrojack’s “Give me everything” and Chris Brown featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes for “Look At Me Now.”
“Look At Me Now” also makes the list for the Best Hip-hop Video. Other nominees for that category include “All of the lights” by Kanye West featuring Rihanna and Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne with “6 foot, 7 foot,” Lupe Fiasco for “The Show Goes On,” and “Super Bass” performed by Nicki Minaj.
The nominees for Best Rock Video go to Cage The Elephant for “Shake Me Down,” the Foo Fighters for “Walk,” “Pumped up Kicks” by Foster the People, “The Cave” performed by Mumford & Sons and The Black Keys for “Howlin’ for You.”
Best New Artist nominees are Big Sean, Foster the People, Kreayshawn, Tyler The Creator, and Wiz Khalifa.
Death Cab for Cutie makes the list of nominees for Best Art Direction alongside Adele, Kanye and Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
Beyonce, Britney Spears, Bruno Mars, LMFAO, and Lady Gaga make the list of nominees for Best Choreography and 30 Seconds to Mars, Beyonce, Eminem, Katy Perry and Adele make the list of Best Cinematography.
Adele and Katy Perry are also up for Best Direction alongside Eminem, 30s Seconds to Mars and the Beastie Boys.
Best Editing nominees include Katy Perry, Adele with Kanye West, 30 Seconds to Mars and Manchester Orchestra.
Lastly, the nominees for Best Special Effects are Chromeo for “Don’t Turn the Lights On,” “Power” by Kanye West and Dwele, Katy Perry’s “E.T.,” “Waiting For the End” performed by Linkin Park, and Manchester Orchestra for “Simple Math.”
The award show will be held on August 28th in Los Angeles.
