Steven C. Mosiello (Retired FDNY Fire Marshall 1979-2002), of North Massapequa, succumbed to cancer on July 15, 2011. He was one of the first 75 responders to the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
Steve, who was born in Brooklyn in 1952 moved to Levittown in 1958. He was an Air Force veteran who served in Viet Nam. Steve was an active member in his community who coached PAL basketball for 11 years. He was the proprietor of the Abbey Tavern, Abbey Tavern East in Commack and the Bottom Line in East Meadow, as well as of a construction business.
Devoted husband of Ginger. Devoted father of Steven II, Nicole, Ryan and Alexandra. Cherished grandfather of Ayla. Loving brother of Michael and John. Stepson of Helen. Son-in-law of Ginny. Brother-in-law of Denise, Pat, Barbara, Ted and Debbie. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was held at St. Kilian R.C. Church, Farmingdale. Interment Long Island National Cemetery.
