Cop Shoots Pit Bull After It Attacks Dog, Woman

According to Nassau County Police, an officer was advised of a loose Pit Bull acting aggressively in the vicinity of South Street and Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay around 7:00 a.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, the dog was observed attacking a woman 51, and the dog she was walking. As a result, the victim fell to the ground striking her head and causing a contusion. The responding officer attempted to pull the Pit Bull away from the victim and her dog at which time the dog lunged at the officer forcing him to discharge his weapon , killing the animal.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated and her dog was removed to a veterinarian. The deceased animal was removed by the Town Of Oyster Bay Animal Control.  No other injuries were reported.
