Newsweek is back at it again.

The popular magazine is in the middle of a controversy again concerning its cover image. First the magazine gave some people the creeps after an aged Princess Diana appeared next to Kate Middleton for a cover image back in June. The photoshopped picture ran alongside an article that paid homage to what would have been Diana’s 50th birthday.

Now, the controversy surrounds Rep. Michele Bachmann, and the close up photo of her on this week’s issue of Newsweek.

Let’s just say the photo is probably not the best picture ever taken of the presidential candidate.

According to MSNBC, the close up image of Bachmann for the story titled, “The Queen of Rage,” which shows the congresswoman looking directly at the camera, came from a lighting test during the photo shoot. The report says photos from the shoot were shared with Bachmann’s campaign.

Tina Brown, editor-in-chief of Newsweek and The Daily Beast defended the photo on Twitter, saying: “Michele Bachmann’s intensity is galvanizing voters in Iowa right now and Newsweek’s cover captures that.”

The picture has stirred up controversy among women’s rights groups and conservatives who believe that the picture makes Bachmann look “crazy.”

“Can anyone really say with a straight face that the Mainstream Media is not totally biased against conservatives?” asked one blog.

“It’s sexist,” Terry O’Neil, president of the National Organization for Women told the Daily Caller.

Bachmann’s camp hasn’t attacked the magazine, saying she is focusing her attention on the campaign.
