The Cold Spring Harbor Band, under the direction of Pat Farrell, vocalist, on the piano, moved its concert to the William Gill Theatre, atop New Hyde Park Village Hall, due to rain. The Cold Spring Harbor Band performs a tribute to the songs of Billy Joel and features, along with Farrell, Robert Goebel, keyboard, guitar and percussion, Lou Kouvaris, guitar, Nick Cangemi, drums, Paul Tuthill, sax and Peter Salvato, bass.
The concert was originally scheduled to be performed at New Hyde Park Memorial Park, however, at about 3 p.m. when the rain started, it was wisely decided to move the entire operation to the William Gill Theatre.
By the time the concert was set to begin the theatre was packed with everyone ready to sit back and enjoy the music.
Fortunately, New Hyde Park Village Hall is equipped with an elevator so it was possible for everyone to make it to the top of the building, instead of the very steep staircase, to the newly renovated theatre.
The Cultural Commission, under the direction of Lisa Miranda, books the entertainment for all the shows scheduled in the village and the Cold Spring Harbor Band, according to the audience reaction, was one of its best choices.
