Ke$ha

It’s been a pretty excellent couple years for Ke$ha (aka Kesha Rose Sebert): The singer’s terrific January 2010 debut album, Animal, yielded enough hits to warrant an expanded reissue some 11 months later, this time featuring the equally loaded Cannibal EP, and the combined set is stocked with some of the freshest and funnest party jams to be found anywhere. The singer brings her tour (also featuring LMFAO and Spank Rock) to Jones Beach on Sat 8.20. (Photo: Patrick Fraser)

TWO-IN @ BOLTAX GALLERY

Jemimah Patterson’s work is heavily influenced by the artist being one of a conjoined set of identical twins. “My twinning creates resonant psychological dimensions that are reflected in my compositions. For instance, paired or mirrored motifs recur throughout my work, often creating surrogate double portraits.” Patterson’s self-described “magnetic attraction to doubled imagery” can be seen in shadow and mirrored manipulations twisted into whimsical works of art. BLACK TIDE @ BEST BUY (Westbury)

It’s kind of hard to believe Miami’s Black Tide aren’t, like, arena-filling superstars. Maybe it’s because, even though they’re just now releasing their second album, Post Mortem, they’re still only teenagers. There aren’t too many other reasons to be found—it’s certainly not the music. The band’s polished hard rock/nu-metal is insanely melodic and not lacking in speed, dynamics or muscle—it bears some resemblance to Linkin Park, In Flames and Avenged Sevenfold, all of whom have been known to play for some pretty serious crowds. At this rate, Black Tide will join them soon enough—maybe by the time they hit their 20s? Tue. 8.23. Best Buy. 1100 Old Country Road, Westbury. 516-357-9025. 7 p.m. —Michel Patrick Nelson
