Actress, Raven Symone, 25, was one of the winners of NAACP Theatre Awards Monday night.
According to CBS, Symone accepted the Spirit Award at The 2011 NAACP Theatre Awards at the Los Angeles Theatre Center. The ceremony honors those making a difference in local and national theatre scene and according to the Huffington Post, The Spirit Award is given to individuals who bring energy, tenacity, innovation, commitment, talent and spirit.
Raven, 25, stars in ABC television show, ‘State of Georgia’ which aired in June. The show centers around Georgia, played by Raven, who is from the South and is trying to become a famous actress in New York City.
She is also notable as having a Disney show called “That’s So Raven,” in which she played Raven Lydia Baxter. The show aired from 2003 to 2007. And her most memorable role was on “The Cosby Show.”
At The 2011 NAACP Theatre Awards, Diahann Carroll received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Carroll is a Tony Award winner, an Emmy and Grammy Nominee, a Golden Globe winner and a Best Actress Oscar-Award nominee.
Pamela Browner White was awarded the President’s Award. White is known for serving as the senior vice president, public affairs and government relations for the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to Los Angeles Broadway World, Previous recipients include Bill Cosby, Maya Angelou, Richard Gere, Sidney Poitier, Oprah Winfrey, Quincy Jones and Elizabeth Taylor.
