Farmingdale Runners Score in Annual Heart & Sole 5K

Congratulations to Farmingdale runners Cristina Diaz and Joan Ackerman on their award-winning performances in the 8th Annual Heart & Sole 5 Kilometer Run through the streets of Plainview on Sunday, July 10.

Diaz took third place honors among the women in the 30-34 age group with a time of 25:20, and Ackerman was the second place finisher in the women’s 70-74 age group, crossing the finish line at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School in 35:59.

There were 365 finishers overall. The Greater Long Island Running Club managed the event, with the entire net proceeds going to improve patient care at Plainview and Syosset Hospitals. Dr. Alan Mensch, senior vice president of Medical Affairs for Plainview and Syosset Hospitals served as the director of the event.
