Belle Santora Knows Oyster Bay
Belle Santora identified the Sept. 1, mystery picture in the Enterprise Pilot. She said, “It’s the East Norwich sign on Route 25A.” As for the Aug. 25 photo, she said, “It could be anywhere.”
Interestingly, we didn’t use the photo after it was taken because we thought it was too obvious a location. Now we see we were wrong, but we are still hopeful to have it identified.
As to Hurricane Irene, Belle said, “We were very lucky. We lost power at 6 p.m. just after we finished dinner and had the electricity come back on at 10 p.m. So we were lucky.”
She said she got a lot of phone calls from friends in Florida on Sunday – that was while the land line phones were still working, she said. They were calling on Monday too, to be sure she was all right.
Billy Minicozzi made a good guess on the sign, that he said might be where you come over the bridge in Bayville. He is correct, there is a sign there too. On a sports note he said happily, “The Jets and Giants are going to play football on Christmas Day. Even if they don’t make it to the SuperBowl, they will be playing.”
We hope we get a few calls about the wooden bench. When you hear where it is you will say to yourself – of course that’s where it is!
