Registration Opens for Annual Blazing Trails 4-Autism Run

Registration is open for the 4th annual edition of the Grillo & Associates Blazing Trails 4-Autism 4 Mile Run/Walk, to be held on Sunday morning, October 23, at the Great Neck South High School/Middle School campus. Every runner, walker and supporter of families who are dealing with autism is invited to be part of this year’s event. Specifically, the event will benefit the Eden II and Genesis Foundation, which supports children and adults with autism through specialized programs designed to help them achieve the highest possible quality of living throughout their lives.

The event will be held over the same great course as last year – four challenging but fair miles on the rolling hills and scenic vistas of the local Lake Success neighborhood and thence to the campus for an exciting finish on the high school track.

Race management will be handled by the Greater Long Island Running Club, with Robyn Schneider serving as the director of the event. Logistical support is being provided by the Great Neck School District, with Great Neck Superintendent of Schools Dr. Thomas Dolan having been designated as the Honorary Event Chair.

The Blazing Trails 4 Miler will once again be part of the USA Track & Field – Long Island Grand Prix of Long Island road races, and will be a USATF-LI Grand Prix Team Championship event.

Every entrant will receive a unique commemorative hooded sweatshirt. The run will be followed by a giant post race raffle that will once again feature a Cannondale Road Bike, valued at more than $1,000, courtesy of Brickwell Cycling/Multisports and their new Manhasset outlet.

The title sponsor of the event will once again be the Massapequa insurance agency Grillo and Associates, headed up by the very generous Richard Grillo. Anton Community Newspapers, Brickwell , and Panera will once again be key sponsors, and All Round Foods will be donating their sinfully delicious cupcakes and muffins for all the participants.

Online registration is open at glirc.org, and hard copy entry forms can be obtained by calling Mike or Linda at the Greater Long Island Running Club office at (516) 349-7646.
