Did you know England’s Queen Victoria had a beautiful wedding cake that weighed 300 pounds? Or that giving of an engagement ring is a tradition that started in 1477, when Maximilian I gave Mary of Burgundy a diamond ring as a present to honor their engagement? Probably not, but that’s ok because we do and we’ll share all the fun facts with you! Lets get started….

1.The tradition of a veil started in Rome, although it has always been worn over the face it use to be yellow and was called a flammeum.

8.If you are looking for something to be thrown at you after the ceremony and don’t want to do rice, you could always do what Czech newlyweds do and throw peas.

9.Today Saturday is the most popular day to be married, but according to English folklore it is the unluckiest day!

10.If you are determined to find a lucky date for the wedding, you could do what the Ancient Romans did and study pig entrails.
