Island Trees Rocks East Rockaway Football

The Island Trees J.V. Bulldogs Football team opened their 2011 season with a convincing win over the East Rockaway Rocks 26-16. The Bulldogs scored within the first two plays of the game on Joe Stanco’s safety. On the Bulldogs first offensive possession Brian Eletti scored on a 45 yard touchdown run and scored on the 2-point conversion to make it 10-0 in the first three minutes of the game.

Eletti would later score on a 67-yard touchdown run to make it 18-0 at the half. Eletti would have a great day as he carried the ball 15 times and ran for 195 yards with two successful 2-point conversions. Dan Connelly did a very nice job in his debut and commanding the offense. Connelly was 2/2 for 35 yards passing and one passing touchdown completed to Rich Wisor in the corner of the end zone.

The Bulldogs’ defense was stellar and leading the pack was Anthony Reyes with six tackles and a sack. John Pascalli recorded five tackles and Andrew Zabala, Joe Piscopio, Justin Kampf, and Tommy Doran each recorded four tackles.

East Rockaway would score only in the final half of the fourth quarter. Overall, the Bulldogs took control of the game the minute it started and never faulted. The J.V. will look to win their second game as they travel to North Shore on Saturday, Sept. 17.
