Salsa Fiesta-Get Up and Go Series at Long Island Children’s Museum
Join us as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month- through October 15 by exploring salsa! Explore the unique style of salsa music that originated in Cuba and was influenced by Spanish rhythms and jazz. Then learn some basic salsa dance steps and make fresh salsa dip to round out the healthy fiesta! The Get Up and Go available from the series is sponsored by a grant from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. All Ages. Free with museum admission.

Little Frog Puppets at Long Island Children’s Museum

Church of Holy Spirit to Hold Defensive Driving Course
Church of the Holy Spirit, 500 Jericho Turnpike, in New Hyde Park is offering a Defensive Driving Course sponsored by the National Safety Council on Saturday, class hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $45. With this course participants will receive a 10 percent reduction in the liability and collisions portions of their insurance premium, and it will also remove up to four points from their driving record. Hopefully, the information gained will help prevent collisions. We would like to invite the community to attend this course. Herricks Adult Day Program to Hold Garden Fundraiser
The Herricks Adult Day Program will hold a garden fundraiser, rain or shine, on Oct. 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will be held in the new Sensory Garden at the Herricks Community Center, 999 Herricks Road, Room 114. Williston Park American Legion to Hold Fundraiser
The Williston Park American Legion Post 144, 730 ‘Willis Avenue, Williston Park will hold its annual Octoberfest, from 6 to 11 p.m. The donation of $40 per person includes dinner of Sauerbraten, red cabbage, potato, coffee, cake and open bar. Community Church of East Williston to Hold Pumpkin Patch Sale
The Community Church of East Williston will hold its Third Annual Giant Pumpkin Sale on the front lawn of the church, 45 East Williston Avenue, East Williston, (corner of East Williston Avenue and Roslyn Road). A chance to purchase a favorite pumpkin in a local venue, for two weeks beginning on Oct. 9 until Oct. 23. Enjoy a BBQ lunch on Saturdays and Sundays along with homemade baked goods. Plus there will be face painting for the kids and a chance to have a picture taken with the Happy Face Pumpkin and mum sales every day. Hours include: Weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 pm.
