Williston Park American Legion to Hold Fundraiser

The Williston Park American Legion Post 144, 730 Willis Avenue, Williston Park will hold its annual Octoberfest, from 6 to 11 p.m. The donation of $40 per person includes a dinner of Sauerbraten, red cabbage, potato, coffee, cake and open bar. Entertainment will be provided by Adam Barthalt’s six piece Oomph band, together with Bavarian Dancers. Tickets and additional information can be obtained from Lester Teemsma at 248-7514.

Free Concert at William Gill Theater

The William Gill Theater will hold a free concert at 7:30 p.m. featuring the Spirit Players. The William Gill Theater is located on the second floor of New Hyde Park Village Hall, corner of New Hyde Park Road and Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park.

Community Church of East Williston to Hold Pumpkin Patch Sale

The Community Church of East Williston will hold its Third Annual Giant Pumpkin Sale on the front lawn of the church, 45 East Williston Avenue, East Williston (corner of East Williston Avenue and Roslyn Road). A chance to purchase a favorite pumpkin in a local venue, for two weeks beginning on Oct. 9 until Oct. 23. Enjoy a barbecue lunch on Saturdays and Sundays along with homemade baked goods. Plus there will be face painting for the kids and a chance to have a picture taken with the Happy Face Pumpkin and mum sales every day. Hours include: Weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 pm. And weekdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Half the proceeds from the sales will help the Youth Group’s Project to build homes for Habitat for Humanity during their February winter break. Goldilocks and The Three Bears at LICM

Goldilocks and The Three Bears will presented at the Long Island Children’s Museum, on the following Oct. 10 at 1 and 3 p.m.; on Oct. 15 at 1 and 3 p.m.; on Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. and Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. Enjoy this classic story brought to life on the LICM stage. Find out what happens when little Goldilocks stumbles upon an empty cottage during her walk in the woods. This show was created for preschool children, but the whole family will be laughing along too! Stay after the show and meet the characters. Goldilocks and the Three Bears was originally produced by Polka Theatre, UK in 2009 and is produced by special arrangement with “Plays for Young Audiences,” a partnership of Seattle Children’s Theater and Children’s Theatre Company Minneapolis Ages: 3 and up. Fee: $8 with Museum Admission, $6 and LICM Members, $12 theater only.

The Hillside Public Library’s Board Of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. at 155 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park.

Shelter Rock Library

The Board of Trustees of the Shelter Rock Public Library will hold their Monthly Board Meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. The public is invited to attend. The meeting may contain an executive session for discussion of personnel and/or contract issues.

Cellini Lodge to Present Tribute to Garibaldi

Cellini Lodge #2206, Order Sons Of Italy In America, is hosting a special event in recognition of Italian Culture and Heritage Month and the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, entitled “ A Tribute To Garibaldi and The Unification of Italy” at 7:30 p.m. at Marcus Christ Hall, corner of New Hyde Park Road and Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park. Deceased and living veterans will be honored with a special ceremony. Light refreshments will be served and the event is free and open to the public. New Hyde Park Memorial Homecoming

New Hyde Park Memorial Homecoming will step off approximately at noon from Hillside Boulevard and will make its way down New Hyde Park Road to Falmouth and to New Hyde Park Memorial High School on Leonard Boulevard. The game between Memorial and Wantagh will begin at 2 p.m. At half-time the winning floats will be named and the Homecoming King and Queen will be announced.

Fundraiser to Save P.A.L. on Denton Avenue

There will be a fundraiser to help save the P.A.L. on Denton Avenue in New Hyde Park, held at the Elks Club, 901 Lakeville Avenue, New Hyde Park from 1 to 6 p.m., including a spaghetti dinner with meatballs, bread and salad. The fundraiser will be run by the Elks Club and the New Hyde Park Lions Club. Tickets for adults $10 and for children under 12 – $5. The New Hyde Park Village Board will hold its regular meeting at 8 p.m. at village hall, corner of New Hyde Park Road and Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park.

The Doe Club of New Hyde Park will hold an Oktoberfest Dinner and Oompah Auction at 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 901 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park. New Hyde Park Chamber To Hold Free Breakfast for Members

The New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce will hold a free members breakfast buffet at The Omega Diner, 1809 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park. Included will be coffee, tea and/or juice, muffins, plain bagels, cinnamon Danish, cheese Danish, pound cake and fresh fruit salad. Nonmembers welcome for a $10 fee.

Herricks High School Homecoming

The Herricks High Homecoming festivities will be held on Friday at Herricks High School. The event starts at 1:40 p.m. and continues on until 6 p.m. when buses will leave for Tully Field for the game.

Gladiator Fund 11th Annual Football Pig Roast

The Gladitor Fund, under the direction of Dan Connor, will hold its 11th Annual Football Pig Road at 1 p.m. at the Alumni Club, Hillside Avenue and Denton Avenue, New Hyde Park. The Chargers vs. Jets at 1 p.m. Proceeds to benefit Jay Alverson, Class of1971, diagnosed with A.L.S. Admission fee is $10. Cash bar. $5 for 50-50 raffle and $5 to gues the pigs’s weight. Mineola Knights of Columbus to Hold Pasta Dinner

The Mineola Knights of Columbus will hold its Annual Pasta Dinner on October 23 from noon to 4 p.m. at its headquarters, 186 Jericho Turnpike, Mineola. Included in the dinner will be meat ziti, manicotti tri-color salad, bread, cookies, soda, coffee and raffles. Admission is $15 per person and $6 for children under age 12. Friends of Hillside Library to Hold Harvest Supper

On Friday night at 6 p. m. in the All Purpose room of the Hillside Public Library, 155 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park, will be the Friends of the Hillside Public Library’s first Harvest Supper. A full dinner will be served family style, including dessert coffee and tea. The cost is $20 per person and will be limited to the first 60 reservations. Reservation forms are available at the Hillside Public Library. This is an adults only event.

Supermarket Fun Night at Stewart Manor School

The Stewart Manor PTA will hold a Supermarket Fun Night in the Stewart Manor gym at 7 p.m. Doors to open at 6 p.m. $5 donation includes admission, two boards, chance for a door prize, coffee and dessert. No one under the age of 18 will be admitted.
