OB-EN Varsity Baymen Win Over North Shore

The Oyster Bay High School varsity football squad enjoyed their first win of the season in an exciting overtime win over the North Shore Vikings (29-28). Tom Gould, OBEN media specialist, who also announces at the games said, “Due to Yom Kippur observance on Saturday, Oct. 8 we had to play this week’s football game yesterday afternoon. Oct. 6.  It was a 4:30 p.m. kickoff and became a race against the sun to get the game in before it got too dark.  Going into overtime, made it very close.

“Had a 2nd overtime period been necessary, the game would have been stopped and the end would have had to have been rescheduled.

“We got the ball first in OT and scored.  North Shore also scored in their overtime segment, but failed to kick the extra point ending the game with Oyster Bay on top 29 to 28.

“It was a lot of fun for our diehard fans,” said Mr. Gould.
