It’s not always easy going up against big time sporting events, but NBC’s new series Grimm had a decent showing, despite going head-to-head with Game 7 of the World Series on Fox.

The pilot episode brought in 6.5 million viewers, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The show—inspired by “Grimm’s Fairy Tales”—is about a Portland detective named Nick Burkhardt who learns he’s not your everyday hard working detective. In fact, Nick discovers he’s from an elite line of criminal profilers known as “Grimms.” This also makes his job just a little harder, because he’s not only entrusted with protecting the good people of Portland and upholding the law, but he also has to keep the balance between humans and mythological creatures of the world.

Yeah, nothing like your everyday cop.

He’s also not allowed to take his job home with him, and has to keep this secret from his fiancé and his partner in police world.

Nick is played by David Giuntoli, who has appeared in Private Practice, Crash, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Eli Stone, Gray’s Anatomy and Ghost Whisperer.

Other members of the cast include: Russell Hornsby as Hank Griffin, who is Nick’s partner, Bitsie Tulloch as Nick’s fiance Juliette Silverton, as well as Silas Weir Mitchell (My Name is Earl, Prison Break), Sasha Roiz and Reggie Lee.

Diehard fans of Fox’s sci-fi thriller Fringe were disappointed to find out that Game 7 of the World Series pushed back Peter Bishop’s return one more week. After disappearing from planet earth at the end of last season, Bishop has made ghostly returns to the world this season. Unfortunately for Peter, though, nobody remembers he even existed, and his father—Walter Bishop—believes both Peter’s died years ago.

So to lighten the mood, the good people at Fringe made a joke of pushing the episode back a week with this video:
