Kim Kardashian filed for divorce earlier today and has since released a statement to E! regarding the divorce.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage,” she said. “I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

Kardashian filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court this morning, after only 72 days of marriage.

Kardashian cited irreconcilable differences as to the reason for the split.

“All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time. The Kardashians have always been uniquely open with all aspects of their lives from joyous events to intimate moments to heartbreaking transitions. E! will continue to share the fascinating real lives and larger-than-life existence of this close-knit family,” E! Entertainment, who airs “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” said in a statement.

“Keeping Up With the Kardashians” Executive Producer Ryan Seacrest confirmed the divorce on his Twitter.

“Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins,” he tweeted.

Kardashian, 30, wed Humphries, 26, on August 20, after announcing they were engaged back in May.

The wedding cost a reported $20 million and was held at a California mansion with 400 guests including the likes of Eva Longoria and Lindsay Lohan.

The ceremony was televised as a two-part special on E! earlier this month. On November 27, the couple will be featured on “Kim & Kourtney Take New York.”
