Donate Your Halloween Candy to Troops

candyThe Long Island Ducks have made Bethpage Ballpark a collection point for any extra Halloween candy that fans wish to get rid of and donate to overseas troops.

The candy will be mailed to Operation Gratitude by the team’s charitable arm, the QuackerJack Foundation, in order to be used for care packages for troops fighting overseas. Donations will be accepted at the Bethpage Ballpark executive offices during normal business hours until Thursday, November 10.

Operation Gratitude sends out hundreds of thousands of care packages each year filled with snacks, letters of appreciation, and other items to U.S. Service Members deployed in hostile regions of the world, their children left behind, and Wounded Warriors that are recuperating. Their mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member’s face and express to our Armed Forces the appreciation and support of the American people. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than 660,000 packages to American Military deployed overseas.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark in Central Islip, N.Y. The Ducks have led the Atlantic League in attendance for 12 consecutive seasons. For season ticket or advertising information, visit www.liducks.com or call 631-940-DUCK.
