Cops: Freeport Man Swipes CVS Items And Assaults Police That Try To Arrest Him

According to police, at 9:55 a.m., Charles D Grandberry, 46, of Freeport, swiped items from a Baldwin CVS and concealed them in his pants. He left the store on a bicycle and headed west on Merrick Road to a laundromat. Detectives followed Grandberry and attempted to place him under arrest but he took off. Additional detectives spotted Grandberry fleeing and attempted to place him under arrest. Allegedly, this time, a struggle ensued leaving one detective with a knee injury. He was treated at a local hospital and later released.

Grandberry was placed under arrest and charged with robbery, assault, criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead Monday, Nov. 14.
