News that comedian Patrice O’Neal died came today. O’Neal reportedly died Monday night at 41 years old.

At the moment, his cause of death remains unknown but O’Neal’s health hasn’t been the best in recent months. According to TMZ, he suffered a stroke back in October after battling diabetes.

A month before his stroke, O’Neal cracked up the crowd as he performed at the “Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen.” the comic was best known as a regular on the Sirius radio show, “Opie and Anthony.”

According to the Huffington Post, the announcement about his condition was made by a group of his comedian friends and peers on the popular Sirius radio show. A statement regarding his September stroke was posted on Opie and Anthony’s Facebook page.

“Our close friend Patrice O’Neal suffered a stroke last week,” the statement reads, reported MSNBC. “Please respect his family and their request for privacy. An email has been set up for fans to send him well wishes and his family will make sure he gets them. You can write to [email protected]. When we have an update on his condition, we will let you all know.”

News of his death was also shared by Opie. Early this morning, Opie took to Twitter to comment, tweeting, “Yes it’s true that our pal Patrice O’Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I’ve ever known PERIOD.”
