Letter: Re-Elect Rick Stein for Fire Commissioner

Having known Rick Stein for over 35 years now, I am proud to ask my family, neighbors and friends to support him for re-election on December 13 for his second term as Fire Commissioner for the New Hyde Park Fire Department.

Anyone can throw their hat in the ring and want to fill this prestigious seat but it takes a man with integrity, dedication and a total committment to the overall goals of the firefighters and taxpayers to achieve and succeed in this position; and Rick Stein has done that for the past five years.

Rick Stein’s résumé is impeccable, having been elected Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners for the past two years, having been a firefighter for 39 years since graduating from New Hyde Park Memorial High School. He is held in the highest regard and supported by the Chiefs, Commissioners, Officers and Firefighters.

Stein was Deputy Chief Inspector for the NYCFD with special emphasis in his job responsibilities of budget control and review, implementation, revenue, instrumental in pilot programs and staffing. He brings to this position a wealth of knowledge, understanding and the ability to work with everyone within the fire services to bring innovative and cost-saving ideas, both for the taxpayers and the entire New Hyde Park community.

Knowing the full background of the candidates, what their objectives are and what they stand for is vital in choosing the right fire commissioner in this election and a good indicator of future actions is the past behavior and traits of the candidates.  Rick Stein’s past speaks for itself.

A vote for Stein is a vote for integrity, honesty and good leadership!

Voting is on Tuesday, December 13 at Fire Headquarters on Jericho Turnpike between 1 and 9 p.m.
