Country star Mindy McCready’s 5-year-old son was taken into custody Friday evening, reported Entertainment Weekly.

Zander was reportedly found at McCready’s boyfriend’s house in Arkansas—mother, 36, and son were reportedly found hiding in a closet.

Reportedly, Florida Department of Children and Families was working with officials to bring Zander back to Florida to his legal guardian, Gayle Inges.

McCready, who is pregnant with twins, reportedly took the boy during a visit to Florida. She alleged, according to the Miami Herald, that he suffered abuse with Inges and that’s one reason why she left with him.

According to the Miami Herald, on Tuesday, a judge ruled she had to return him voluntarily by 5 p.m. Thursday or risk an arrest warrant.

McCready noted that she could not travel because she is pregnant.

“Mom has violated the court’s custody order and we are simply restoring the child back into our custody,” Lee County Judge James Seal’s wrote in an email to the AP, reported EW. “Nothing more. Nothing less. The court makes no judgment about whether Mom will or will not competently care for the child while in her custody. It only wants the child back where the court placed him.”

The incident follows a long custody battle with McCready’s mother who was awarded guardianship of her son, Zander, back in 2007.
