Fan favorite, Chris Rene took the “X Factor” stage last night with a famous singer.
It was part of the two-part season finale which ends tonight with one winner taking home a $5 million record contract. Wednesday, the three finalists shared the stage with one superstar for duet.
Rene got the chance to perform with Avril Lavigne. The two performed “Complicated” one of Lavigne’s hit songs.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you’ve been waiting for, Avril Lavigne,” said Rene as he introduced the petite punk princess.
“Why do you have to go and make things so complicated,” the two belted out while the crowd cheered.
Rene took the song and gave it his own twist, rapping for a moment, “I tried to find you but I couldn’t cause you weren’t there, someone took your place and you didn’t care. But I know you do and I don’t ever, ever, ever want to see you faking.”
Te duet finished with an applause from the audience and judges. Clearly, the song impressed them too.
“Cut from the same cloth,” said L.A. Reid of the two performers. He agreed with Simon saying “That could be a record released tomorrow and it would be a number one hit.”
Not only were the judges impressed, but Lavigne sang his praises too.
“Chris is amazing, I think everyone should vote for him,” raved Avril. “He was really amazing, coming in here today and just like, hearing someone else sing my song, and he’s a dude, he definitely kicked a**.”
