Picture 52“It’s been fairly normal,” said Jane Carrey, actor Jim Carrey’s daughter, of growing up with Jim.

It was during a Sunday episode of “American Idol” that the world met Jane Carrey—The 24-year-old’s mom is Melissa Womer, Jim’s first wife. The two were married from 1987 to 1995.

“The last name helps and hurts, I feel like there’s definitely this pressure to be better,” she said.”Because if I make it somewhere I run the risk of people saying, I only got their because of this.”

“I think that’s why I’m here, to make my place in the world,” she added.

Almost as soon as she revealed who her father was, one judge got visibly excited—Jennifer Lopez was excited to see Jane, whom she recalled meeting during her time as a Fly Girl on the set of “In Living Color” when Jim stopped by.

Jane tried out for the show Sunday and impressed judges with her rendition of Bonnie Raitt’s hit “Something to Talk About.”

Her performance went over well with the judges.

“You’ve got good melody but you’ve got to work on the volume,” said Steven Tyler.

“I think you’re good but I think you’ve got to think about performing,” said Jennifer Lopez.

The judges agreed and ultimately put her through to the next round, Hollywood.

Who knows, she could follow in the footsteps of “American Idol” celebrity offspring like Jordan Sparks. Sparks, the child of NFL cornerback Phillippi Sparks, won season six of “American Idol.”

Jane made news back in 2010 when Jim Carrey announced he was a grandfather through Twitter—Jane gave birth to her first child, Jackson Riley Santana, with husband Alex Santana in February, 2010.
