Dr. Deepak A. Kapoor, president of Advanced Urology Centers of New York (AUCNY), the largest urology group practice in the United States and leading regional provider of urology services, has been selected as a celebrity boxer for the 2012 Long Island Fight For Charity (LIFFC), being held on Monday, March 5 at 5 p.m. at Hilton Long Island in Melville. Sporting the fighter name of Dr. Deepak “The Ball Buster” Kapoor, he will be paired against another Long Island celebrity boxer to raise money for three charities.
“I pride myself and my entire staff on giving back, not only to our patients, but also to the communities we serve; the Long Island Fight For Charity gives us a chance to raise money for some very important and influential charities,” said Kapoor.
“I’m also looking forward to fight night, where I can display all of the hard work I’ve been putting into my boxer training,” said Kapoor. “I encourage the local community to come out for the event. It’s going to be a great night. I know my family and friends are excited to see me take a few hits in the ring!”
LIFFC, which is in its ninth year, has become known as one of Long Island’s largest and most anticipated events. Each year, more than 1,000 individuals gather together to support the celebrity boxers, who have trained, fundraised and put on their gloves to fight for charity. Dr. Kapoor is joining a long list of past boxers who have helped to distribute more than $700,000 to charities since the event’s inception. This year, the proceeds from the fight go to three local Long Island charities: The Genesis School, Long Island Community Chest and National Foundation for Human Potential.
“We are really thrilled that Dr. Deepak “ The Ball Buster” Kapoor is joining us as a 2012 Celebrity Boxer,” said Jamie Austin, co-founder of the Long Island Fight For Charity. “He has already shown great determination in trainings and we are anticipating a wonderful match and overall memorable event. We can’t thank Dr. Kapoor enough for his dedication and commitment to the cause.”
