Long Island Ducks Visit Hospitals for Valentine’s Day

Long Island Ducks e1329257593238On Tuesday, the Long Island Ducks spent Valentine’s Day by visiting children in the pediatric units at a pair of Long Island hospitals. Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and Stony Brook University Medical Center each received holiday visits from Long Island’s hometown team.

Long Island’s favorite mascot, QuackerJack, manager Kevin Baez, and 2011 Atlantic League batting champion Kraig Binick handed out Valentine’s Day Cards and fun games to young patients at each location. The visits brought smiles to the faces of children and their parents, with many posing for pictures, playing games, and chatting with their heroes.

The annual Valentine’s Day hospital visits come less than two months after QuackerJack and friends visited local hospitals for the holiday season. The visits in December capped a month-long toy drive at the Waddle-In Shop, with toys being handed out to children at the hospitals. Many toys were also donated to Christmas Magic, a not-for-profit organization which provides holiday generosity and spirit to those less fortunate.

The Long Island Ducks are entering their 13th season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and have led the league in attendance in each of their first 12 seasons. Opening Day is May 4. For further information, please visit www.liducks.com or call (631) 940-3825.
