When you went to tune into The Colbert Report last night did you realize that it was a rerun? Well, we have bad news for you.

The reasons as to why the show has been currently suspended is unknown.

The Colbert Report, which normally parodies super PACs and the campaign finance did not air a new episode Wednesday and will not be airing a new episode Thursday either.

Comedy Central Senior VP for Communications Steve Albani would not give a precise reason as to why the show’s production was being halted, but he vaguely said to Politico, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show will air repeat episodes on Wednesday, February 15 and Thursday, February 16.”

According to the website Third Beat, they said audience members received an email stating there would not be a show for them to attend later in the evening.

The email reads, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have canceled our taping for the date of your ticket reservation, February 15, 2012.”

Third Beat gave a possible reason for why the show is being suspended, “A last-minute cancellation is highly unusual for Comedy Central’s fake news shows. The Daily Show has suspended production last-minute due to personal reasons twice during Jon Stewart’s reign: once when his second child was born, and once when a staff member passed away suddenly. If this week’s reasons are of a similar nature, it would be a first for the Colbert Report.”

It is being assumed that the suspension of the show will not be indefinite, and that production of The Colbert Report will return shortly.
