Letter: Stand up for Tolerance, Advocate Education and Peace

In the January 20 issue of the Tribune, an article appeared reporting on a hate crime forum attended by several of our local elected officials.  Subsequently, in the February 3 issue of the Tribune, newly elected Nassau County Legislator, Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, contributed an Op-Ed piece about the forum.

I appreciate what Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said in her speech at the forum and wrote in her article calling attention to these crimes.  As our society becomes more and more politically divisive, standing up for tolerance and advocating for education and peace should be commended.  The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center Center in Glen Cove is a perfect example of utilizing local resources to further that education.
