Hillside Library Program Entitled Drugs and Alcohol For Seniors

Pamela Stark of Nassau County Police Department who addresses seniors on drug interactions, symptoms of drug abuse and misuse by family members, the drug reclamation program and more. Irish American Society Grand Marshal and Aides Dinner Dance
The Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, Inc. will hold a Grand Marshal and Aides Dinner Dance at 297 Willis Avenue, Mineola to begin at 5 p.m. Grand Marshal Betty McLoughlin, along with aides Mary Coyne, Jeff Clark, Aileen Scott and Sean Treanor, will be honored. Featured will be music by Billy Keenan and the Prime Time Showband. Menu will feature: Corned beef and ham, potatoes, cabbage, turnips, coffee, tea, soda bread. Open bar. Town of North Hempstead to Host Annual Polar Plunge
Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board invite all residents to join the hundreds of other brave souls who will dive into the frigid waters at North Hempstead Beach Park for 8th annual Polar Plunge. Sponsored by the Special Olympics, the “Freezin’ for a Reason” Polar Plunge will be held at North Hempstead Beach Park on March 3rd. Registration will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and the Plunge will start at noon.
“Besides being a great event to socialize with family, friends and neighbors and engage in friendly and fun rivalry, the Annual Polar Plunge gives everyone the opportunity to raise funds for a worthy cause,” Supervisor Jon Kaiman said. “I look forward to seeing you there.” In addition to Supervisor Kaiman, plungers will also include State Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, Special Olympics athletes, students from local universities and high schools, as well as members of the community. The Okee Dokee Brothers
At 1 p.m. and at 3 p.m. The Okee Dokee Brothers will perform at the Long Island Children’s Museum. Inspired by their own backyard adventures, The Okee Dokee Brothers perform original music (bluegrass, rock) that reminds audiences of their own “make-believes” and “treehouse-pretendings”. The Okee Dokee Brothers believe that music should be an energetic, interactive and fun experience where kids can enjoy dancing, singing and playing instruments with their families. Ages: 3 and up. The Gladiator Fund will hold its 23rd Annual Fundraiser/Dinner Dance at the Inn, 214 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park from 7 p.m. until midnight.
