Season 14 of Dancing With the Stars is about to begin after the new cast was announced on Tuesday.

Viewers of the newest season of Dancing With the Stars will be seeing some familiar faces like Maria Menounos, Melissa Gilbert and Sherri Shepherd. However, there are some cast members that you may not know, so in case you have never heard of Katherine Jenkins, here’s a few facts that US Magazine shared about the girl who was paired to dance with Mark Ballas on the 14 season of Dancing With the Stars.

She is best known in Europe for being a singer from Neath, Wales. The 31-year-old Welsh songbird sings classical opera, and is better known as an opera star. She has had great success with crossover albums. Her album, called Premiere, helped to make her the fastest-selling mezzo-soprano there is to date.

She is joining the cast of DWTS as a single lady. She was dating TV presenter Gethin Jones for years, and they even went as far as to get engaged in February 2011. Unfortunately the par was not destined to be together since they announced their split via Twitter not even a year later.

She is not going into the competition blind since she has a little dance experience. Jenkins danced with ballerina Darcey Bussell on stage. The performed to together back in 2008 for the musical Viva La Diva.

Jenkins claims that she is motivated by fear. At first she wasn’t sure if she wanted to join the show, but then she explained to US Magazine, “I like to conquer my phobia. I was afraid of heights. I got a pilot’s license. My biggest fear was to drown, so I got a SCUBA diving license. I get embarrassed dancing by myself, so I figured why not do it in front of millions of people.”

Tune in to watch DWTS to see if Jenkins can dance as well as she sings!
