The two-minute trailer follows the team as they pull together in an effort to put aside their differences for the sake of one major mission: saving the world from disaster.

It’s the story of Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., who recruits Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America to save the world from destruction.

The film follows the gang of superheros as they attempt to save the world when an enemy emerges and threatens global safety and security. “It’s called the Avengers initiative,” says Samuel Jackson who plays Nick Fury.

In another scene Mark Ruffalo’s character Bruce Banner questions the team’s success, saying, “We’re not a team, we’re a time bomb” as Scarlett Johansson’s character Black Widow adds, “This is nothing we were trained for,” in another scene.

As we’ve previously reported, according to the L.A. “The Avengers,” produced by Marvel Studios, is based on the Marvel Comics superhero team and crosses over several Marvel films including “Iron Man,” in 2008 “The Incredible Hulk” in 2008 and “Captain America: The First Avenger” in 2011.

“The Avengers” hits theaters May 4, 2012.
