Family Concert – Sounds of Spring
The North Shore Symphony Orchestra will present a Family Concert at 3 p.m. at the Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School, 50 Kennedy Dr., Plainview. Entitled “Sounds of Spring,” the concert will be conducted by NSSO’s Music Director and Conductor Susan Deaver and will feature Rossini’s Overture to La gazza ladra, excerpts from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 Pastorale, the finale of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 and lighter works by Johann Strauss and Leroy Anderson. The concert will also showcase NSSO’s concertmaster and artist-in-residence Anton Polezhayev in a performance of Saint-Saens’ Introduction and Rondo capriccioso. An added highlight will be a raffle held during the concert, which will provide the opportunity for an audience member to conduct one piece with the North Shore Symphony Orchestra. Walk on Water Film
Temple Beth Elohim, 926 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, will be showing the movie Walk on Water at 2:30 p.m. The film tells the story of Eyal, an Israeli Mossad agent, who is given the mission to track down and kill the very old Alfred Himmelman, an ex-Nazi officer, who might still be alive. Pretending to be a tourist guide, he befriends Himmelman’s grandson Axel, who is in Israel to visit his sister Pia. The two men set out on a tour of the country during which Axel challenges Eyal’s values. Snacks and coffee/tea will be served. A donation of $2 per person is requested. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Auction
