It looks like Brandon Jacobs career with the Giants is over.
The Giants and Jacobs couldn’t come to an agreement on restructuring his contract, according to multiple reports, and he will be released from the only organization he’s ever suited up for.
Multiple Giants beat writers reported the news through Twitter. The first was Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger, citing an unnamed source that said the two sides couldn’t come to a deal.
It appears that Jacobs—who already took a pay cut last June to give Big Blue salary cap flexibility to re-sign his friend and fellow running back Ahmad Bradshaw—wasn’t ready for another big cut in pay.

Jacobs was due a $500,000 roster bonus on March 17 and a base salary of $4.4 million, forcing the Giants to release the man who was a member of two Super Bowl winning teams.
The big running back’s production has declined the last three seasons after he rushed for more than 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons in 2007 and 2008.
Last season was his worst in the NFL, only collecting 571 yards rushing on 152 carries, averaging only 3.8 yards per carry, nearly two yards fewer than the year before.
Despite his recent struggles, Jacobs proved to be a key member of the Giants during his seven-year career, stepping up after a Tiki Barber retired at the top of his game in 2006. His best individual season came in 2008 when he ran for 1,089 yards and 15 touchdowns.
