Members of the Polar Bear Plunge committee enjoyed lunch at the Coach Grill after a visit to Roosevelt Park in preparation for the March 11th Polar Bear Plunge!
The convivial group included Mary Brosky, a Development Manager at the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc. and the coordinator of the Polar Bear Plunge event; Pat Quinn the Community Outreach manager for UCPA of NC who helps get community involvement in the Polar Bear Plunge event; as well as co-chairs Frank Ozol, past chief Atlantic Steamer Fire Company; and co-chair Jack Sullivan.
The festivities will kick off at 1 p.m. with the polar bears taking the plunge at 2 p.m. (Make sure to take into account that daylight savings time goes into effect early Sunday morning at 2 a.m. on March 11).
The event will include the music of DJ Danny Kelly, free hot chocolate, coffee, tea, hot dogs grilled by volunteers from the Atlantic Steamer Fire Company, soup, raffles and other surprises. An indoor assembly area will also be available for the event, which will be held rain, snow or shine. The day’s proceedings will benefit the more than 1,800 children and adults with disabilities who participate in programs and receive services through UCPN.
