Farmingdale State College Rams Win Season Opener

Freshman midfielder Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon) scored a game-high six points with four goals and two assists as Farmingdale State College (FSC) defeated non-conference opponent Manhattanville, 16-5, in Purchase. The FSC Rams won their first game of the season and Manhattanville dropped to 0-2 overall with the loss.

The Rams responded with six unanswered goals including three by Marzocca and two from freshman midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport). Each team added a score over the final 10 minutes as the Rams took a 7-2 advantage into halftime.

Manhattanville would close within four, 9-5, early in the second half but Farmingdale State scored seven consecutive goals en route to a 16-5 non-conference victory.

Thoden finished the day with four goals and a game-high 11 draw controls in her Rams debut. Senior attack Krystin Shand (Massapequa Park) tallied three goals and two assists for five points, while Jordyn Hasemann (Farmingdale), Carly Schneider (Merrick) and Jillian Pironti (Seaford) each scored twice.
