Garden City residents Ryan Brown, Kimberly Chan, Julia Hall, Cara and Finola Heaney, Natasha Senken, and Veronica Trzeciak have qualified for the Metropolitan Swimming Junior Olympics to be held in West Nyack, New York. The athletes will be competing for their club team Long Island Aquatic Club during the three-day competition. Long Island Aquatic Club, located out of Garden City, is the premier USA Swimming club on Long Island. The team regularly sends swimmers to compete at regional and national competitions, and has already qualified seven swimmers for the USA Swimming Olympic Trials this summer.
“These athletes have aspirations to become nationally ranked swimmers in the future. Their hard work and experience at the junior level will help prepare them for the road that lies ahead,” said LIAC coach Ginny Nussbaum. “We look forward to their success this weekend.” The Metropolitan Junior Olympics takes place from March 16–18, 2012. Results will be available on LIAC’s website www.longis landswimming.com after the meet.
