Beauty and The Beast
The cast and crew of the Island Trees High School Theater Club is busy preparing for its upcoming production of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast. Come enjoy a fantastic production that features such classic Broadway tunes as Be Our Guest and Beauty and The Beast. Performances will be held on Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17 at 7 p.m. p.m. in the Island Trees HS auditorium with a special performance for senior citizens (free of charge) on Thursday, March 15 at 3 p.m. For tickets and information call 520-2152.

The Road Home
Open general meeting of the Greater LI Running Club will feature a special screening of The Road Home, a 70-minute inspirational documentary. The meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., Plainview, starting promptly at 8 p.m. The Road Home is about the power of the human spirit. It follows a small group of injured American soldiers – recent amputees from Iraq and Afghanistan. Through the efforts of Achilles International, these men and women regain control of their lives by training for, and eventually crossing the finish line of, the New York City Marathon. Night of Laughter
The Sarah Grace Foundation will host its 9th Annual Night of Laughter benefit fundraiser at the Milleridge Cottage, 585 North Broadway, Jericho. Host Rick Morgan will lead the event, which will feature John Santo, impersonator; Ellen Karis, The Greek Goddess of Comedy FoxTV; Rich Ramirez, HBO-BET, Last Comic Standing; and Pete Michaels of Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The unique evening of entertainment is recommended for mature audiences. The event, which costs $75 per person with advance purchase required, will begin at 7:15 p.m. Admission includes show, dinner, raffles and a big 50/50. Lenten Soup and Bread Suppers
For five Fridays during Lent, through March 30, the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church, 1845 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, will be hosting Soup and Bread Suppers at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall (the white building next to the church). All are welcome for delicious soup and bread, beverage and dessert. Kid friendly food, too. There will be a short presentation/activity. There is non charge for this supper. However, if you wish, you can make a monetary donation and/or bring a non-perishable food item which will be donated to the Freeport Emergency Food Pantry. At South Levittown Lanes, 56 Tanners Ln., to support the FGA Revling cheerleaders. The Ladies Auxiliary to the Wantagh Fire Department will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast at the headquarters at 3470 Park Ave., Wantagh. Breakfast will be served between the hours of 8 and 11 a.m. Admission is $6 per person; $3 per child under the age of 9. Start your Sunday morning with a delicious home-cooked breakfast of pancakes with syrup, bacon, sausage and orange juice. The proceeds from this event will be donated to assist in sending a child who is severely burned between the ages of 8 and 18 to the Children’s Burn Summer Camp sponsored by the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation. The Veterans Resource Day
Hosted by The NYS VBOC, SBDC at Farmingdale, Nassau and Suffolk County Veterans Service Agencies. This free event has been specifically developed for all veterans; service disabled veterans, discharging active duty personnel, reservists and the National Guard to provide the resource available to help our veterans get back to work. The program will include resources and information on: employment resources, technical assistance for starting or growing an existing business, certification programs, training opportunities, small business management training, funding resources, individual employment issues or concerns. Soldiers Angels sends care packs to deployed troops all through the year. Cards and letters for our deployed troops, local veterans and for our wounded heroes are also needed. Soldiers Angels also accepts donations for our local veteran missions in the community. Prom Boutique Dress Drive
The Levittown Division Avenue High School chapter of SADD is beginning its annual Prom Boutique Dress Drive. Donations of gently-used prom-appropriate gowns or short dresses can be brought to Division Avenue’s main lobby where convenient hangers and clothing racks will be located. All sizes are needed. Please make sure that donated items are clean and undamaged. Accessories such as shoes, handbags, and costume jewelry are also needed. The boutique will be open for any student in the Levittown school community who needs it to make prom night extra special. Any remaining prom dresses will be donated to the Long Island Volunteer Center for Girls. The Division Avenue Dress Drive will run through March 30.
Port North Spring Boys Basketball
Port North is a 3-year-old independent basketball team based out of Port Washington that plays year round in the super league at Island Garden and various tournaments in the metropolitan area. The program currently has a combined record of 30 – 3 in the winter super league. The emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals, developing good practice habits and preparing players for middle and high school basketball. The team has a professional trainer with over 20 years experience. We are currently looking for experienced and dedicated basketball players in grades 4 through 10 who are interested in trying out for spring and AAU basketball.
