Picture 121Katy Perry has officially dropped the music video for her latest single “Part Of Me.”

“Days like this I want to drive away, pack my bags and watch your shadow fade, you chewed me up and spit me out like I was poison in your mouth,” sings Perry in the new video as she drives off after confronting her cheating boyfriend. “You took my light, you drained me down but that was then and this is now.”

Perry dropped the new video March 21. It first premiered during “MTV First: Katy Perry” and hit the Internet soon after, quickly collecting almost a million views.

The song was officially released this past February on iTunes as the lead single from Perry’s album “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” but was leaked back in 2010.

Perry’s third studio album “Teenage Dream” was first released back in 2012 though in January it was announced that it would be re-released under the title “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection,” in March (“Part Of Me” comes as the first single from the re-released album and the seventh overall).

In recent months, Perry performed the song for the 54th Grammy Awards. Following the performance, rumors were swirling that the song was aimed at ex-husband Russell Brand. Perry later commented on the song, saying that it was created well before her marriage to Brand ended.

In the new video, Perry is seen chopping off her hair and becoming a Marine. The video was reportedly filmed at the USMC’s Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California and was directed by Ben Mor.

“This is the part of me that you’re never gonna ever take away from me,” sings Perry as she trains. “Throw your sticks and your stones, throw your bombs and your blows but you’re not gonna break my soul.”
