While introducing the electronic dance music sensation Avicii, Madonna essentially asked the the crowd was high on drugs during her show at Ultra Music Festival.

She questioned if the audience had seen Molly, “I have a few questions for you How many of you have seen Molly? Whoo! Are you ready to dance? Are you ready to sweat? Are you ready to make some noise? Are you ready for the next DJ mother f*ckers?”

Molly is the slang name for MDMA, the active chemical in ecstasy.

The crowd may have responded with cheers, but EDM star Deadmau5, Joel Zimmerman, was disturbed by Madge’s behavior.

He went to his Twitter and Facebook pages to rant about Madonna’s questions for the audience. He said, “Very classy there madonna. “HUR DUR HAS ANYONE SEEN MOLLY???” such a great message for the young music lovers at ultra.” He also said, “quite the f’n philanthropist. but hey, at least yer HIP AND TRENDY! f—ing cant smack my head hard enough right now.”

Madonna has weighed in on Deadmau5’s accusations and explained what she meant by asking the crowd, “Have you seen Molly?” In a response tweet she said to Deadmau5, “From one mouse to another. I don’t support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song called ‘Have you seen Molly?’ written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my album.”

Madonna adds, “Communication is always best. You should have called me first, we could have cleared it up ‘privately’. See you on the road.”

Deadmau5 replied, “Fair enough, I was just voicing my concerns as I usually do… Respect for clearing it up personally… Well there you have it kids. I’ve said what I needed to say, which I’ll still stand by, and so did she. Life goes on. No more talk of that… Regardless, just be a little more aware of what you *should* represent at EDM (electronic dance music) events, and I’ll watch my mouth.”

We don’t really know if we believe Madonna. It’s kind of odd that she brought up her friend when she is introducing another DJ. Do you think she was referencing drugs or giving her friend a shout out?
