Picture 76Following the killing of Trayvon Martin, a teen who was killed while walking in a Florida neighborhood, Twentieth Century Fox has decided to pull advertisements for new July movie “Neighborhood Watch.”

“We are very sensitive to the Trayvon Martin case, but our film is a broad alien-invasion comedy and bears absolutely no relation to the tragic events in Florida,” a Fox spokesperson told Hollywood Reporter.

The 17-year-old was killed in a Florida neighborhood after George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain, shot him. Zimmerman reported a suspicious person to authorities, who warned him to not follow Martin. Zimmerman later shot Martin after he claimed Martin attacked him.

“The movie, which is not scheduled for release for several months, was made and these initial marketing materials were released before this incident ever came to light. The teaser materials were part of an early phase of our marketing and were never planned for long-term use. Above all else, our thoughts go out to the families touched by this terrible event,” the spokesperson said to THR.

According to reports the trailer has been pulled along with the poster, that shows a street sign with “Neighborhood Watch” displayed along with bullet holes, from Florida theaters. The trailer can be seen before “21 Jump Street” and the posters, displayed in the theater.

The movie follows neighborhood watchmen Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Richard Ayoade and Jonah Hill as they protect the neighborhood at all costs. The trailer shows all four as they ride in a car sporting the letters “NW” down a neighborhood street, and at one point, Hill points his fingers, simulating a gun, at a group of teens.

The movie is set to hit theaters July 27. Check out the trailer.
