Happy Tax Day! It sounds oxymoronic, we know, but you can actually squeeze some deals out of today’s “holiday.”

Tax day is normally on April 15, but since the 15th fell on a Sunday and April 16 was the District of Columbia’s Emancipation Day, a holiday that most Americans are not aware of, tax day was pushed to the 17th. Procrastinators can rejoice.

It’s not the first time tax day has been pushed back, last year it actually fell on the 18th! Can’t keep up with all this tax day change? No need to worry, timeanddate.com reports that starting next year tax day will resume to its normal date of April 15 and stay that way for the next few years.

So what does our nation think of today’s observance? Twitter users are weighing in on tax day 2012.

“Happy Tax Day! Not a scary day for those who don’t own anything :-)” tweeted Inknopik.

“Happy Tax Day? Who’s happy about paying the IRS money?” tweeted QueenSpecialK .

If you are interested in some deals to celebrate tax day you can head over to Twitter to find some give aways from P.F.Changs and Arbys.

“It’s TAX DAY! Come in & get 15% Off ALL Orders – Dine In or Take Out (excluding Happy Hour, Alcohol & Chang’s for 2). #taxday,” tweeted P.F. Changs.

“Happy Tax Day! Get #FREE Curly Fries & enter the #ArbysTaxRelief sweepstakes for a chance to win $5,000 at https://taxrelief.arbys.com” tweeted Arbys.

But the savings don’t stop there, Hip2save.com has several steals, Cinnabon is giving away free Cinnabon bites from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 17 and if you head over to the White Castle Facebook page and “like” them, you can get a coupon for 15 percent off your purchase.

Do you think the giveaways make up for tax day?
