“Lisa Goes Gaga” (Video)

Picture 81The Simpsons are known for having famous cameos throughout the years. This year will be extra special as the series will take on one of the most famous contemporary singers, Lady Gaga, in an upcoming episode.

The singer will be featured on the Season 23 finale episode “Lisa Goes Gaga” later this month. And unlike the past two features, in which Gaga’s “Just Dance” and a Gaga-like character were spotlighted in episodes, Lady Gaga voiced the character of herself.

“She’s playing herself, and (The Simpsons writers) describe her as the happiest, most optimistic person in the world,” Yeardley Smith, who plays Lisa, told Broadway.com.

This week, a teaser of the episode went viral and gave fans their first glimpse into the highly-anticipated season finale. “Don’t miss The Simpsons season finale on SUN 5/20 at 8/7c, on FOX!,” read the YouTube video description.

The video introduced Lady Gaga, shows her with fire erupting from her chest and inside the Simpson’s home donning the famous raw meat dress.

In the episode, Gaga reportedly visits Springfield in an effort to cheer up Lisa, who has fallen in the social ranks, by making her realize that being herself is best.

News of Lady Gaga’s appearance on the hit series was first revealed in August, the same month the singer recorded the episode. Gaga told EW of her nerves during recording.

“I make music, but I don’t do voice-overs every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humor,” Gaga said. “That’s what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines.”

She told EW “this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” adding,  “My dad’s probably going to do 80 backflips when the episode comes out.”
