This season of “Dancing With The Stars” has been the most competitive yet, so a fantastic dancer was bound to get sent home soon.
On Tuesday night’s elimination television talk show host Maria Menounos was sent home packing, along with her professional dance partner Derek Hough.
Maria and Derek received perfect scores from the judges during their last dance, but it wasn’t enough to push them into the finals. The pair needed votes from the viewers. Instead the “Dancing With The Stars” audience voted to keep celebs William Levy, Donald Driver and Katherine Jenkins.
Though all of these stars can definitely dance, sending Maria home felt premature. Sending Donald or William home might have been a more fair choice. Or if Katherine were sent home it would not have been a surprise considering she received the lowest scores on her last performance where she hurt her back.
When it was announced that Maria would be going home on Tuesday night, Menounos said, “I learned so many things — how strong I was, to persevere … I want to thank everyone here. I want to thank Derek and my family and everyone who voted for us.”
“She’s not just a champion of dancing,” said Hough. “She’s a champion of life.” He was referring to Menounos’ determination to continue with the competition even though she severely injured her ribs and foot.
Hough also went on to confess that he “love, love, loved” dancing with Menounos.
The feeling was mutual as Maria confessed about her partner, “I wouldn’t have made it this far without [Derek’s] amazing talents and choreography.”
