Picture 133Phillip Phillips wasn’t the only star of American Idol last night. A slew of super star singers took the stage to amp up excitement on the season finale of the hit Fox show.

Two singers in particular wowed the audience when they took to the Idol stage, belting out famous lyrics while sporting curve-hugging catsuits.

Both Fantasia Barrino and Chaka Khan performed Wednesday night alongside Idol contestants wearing the tight-fitting outfits and may have caused such a sensation that they overshadowed the two contestants left in the competition: Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez.

Fantasia, who won American Idol Season 3, performed with American Idol contestant Joshua Ledet, who was cut before the finale. Ledet introduced Barrino as his inspiration and the two went on to perform “Take Me To The Pilot” made famous by Elton John. Khan performed “Ain’t Nobody” and “I’m Every Woman” with the cast of Idol girls.

Besides the Catwoman garb, the show was chockfull of other exciting performances. Stars like Rihanna, Neil Diamond, Reba McEntire, John Fogarty, Aerosmith, Jennifer Lopez, Jordin Sparks and Jennifer Holliday lit up the stage. Even more exciting was when two former contestants Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo got engaged on stage.

While there was star-studded performances and surprises, audience members were all there to see who won the competition this season. The winner was named 21-year-old Phillip Phillips by host Ryan Seacrest. He beat out 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez, according to the Associated Press, after receiving the winning share of the 132 million votes cast after Tuesday’s performances.

He became the fifth male to win the competition following Scotty McCreery, Lee DeWyze, Kris Allen and David Cook. The last female to win was Jordin Sparks in 2007.
