National Senior Health/Fitness Day Event

Free Chair Yoga Class at 4 p.m. at Physical Solutions Physical Therapy & Fitness, 1211 Stewart Ave., Bethpage. Come enjoy Chair Yoga with Cait Seabury. This gentle yoga class will help build strength, flexibility and endurance. Meditative techniques will also be used to calm the mind and soothe the body. Senior Birthday Celebrations

Elder Law Attorney Stephen J. Silverberg announces that the Law Office of Stephen J. Silverberg, PC, has become a sponsor of Nassau County’s Senior Birthday Celebrations. The monthly birthday parties, held at the Old Bethpage Restoration Fairground building, 1302 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, from noon to 2 p.m., for residents ages 65 and older, were designed to provide Nassau County senior citizens with access to information about services provided by the Nassau County Offices of Aging, Consumer Affairs, Assessment, Health and Human Services, Housing and Social Services. Seniors are invited to celebrate their birthday in the month in which it falls with light refreshments, live entertainment by the Moonlight Serenaders, and games and raffles. Attendees will receive goody bags full of related information along with a free photo identification card.

A Night of Improv

The Sarah Grace Foundation For Children With Cancer, Inc., will hold its 2nd Annual Theatrical Fundraiser, “Unrehearsed: A Night of Improv,” at 7 p.m. on June 1 and June 2 in the Hicksville United Methodist Church Social Hall, 130 West Old Country Rd., Hicksville. The family-oriented show will be similar to the popular improvisational comedy television show Whose Line Is It Anyway? Tickets, which are $12 per person, can be purchased at the door or in advance by visiting www.TheSarahGraceFoundation.org or calling The Sarah Grace Foundation at 516-433-9745. Proceeds will benefit the Long Island-based non-profit corporation dedicated to helping other children and their families facing the financial and emotional challenges and hardships brought upon by childhood cancer.

Miscarriage Support Group

A safe, confidential, supportive environment to talk about what you have been through, reactions and feelings and how to move forward. You are not alone! Facilitated by a professional therapist. •Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. Meets on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. The fee is $5 per family. In addition to verbal support, the group presents guest lecturers, workshops, education programs and holds social events. For information call 822-6111.

•Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Chorus welcomes new members. Meetings are held Monday nights at 7:30 p.m. in the choral room of POB Middle School. All voices are needed and no experience is necessary. Rehearsals run from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. For information call 931-4377 or 935-6243.

•Italian Culture Society At Farmingdale meets the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at Ellsworth W. Allen Park, Motor Ave., Farmingdale. Italian lessons are given by a native Italian teacher. •Introduction To Chemotherapy, a monthly information session for cancer patients who are beginning chemotherapy treatments. Family members are welcome. Refreshments served. Nurses with special training, dietitians and other professionals present information that can help individuals understand, and cope with, the effects of chemotherapy treatments. There is also an opportunity to share information with others who may have been through similar situations. Meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Patient’s Lounge on 3-West at North Shore University Hospital at Plainview, 888 Old Country Rd. Learn about risks, warning signs and treatments and hear medical specialists speak about the health issues concerning stroke and stroke prevention.
