A Japanese artist, who had his genitals removed, cooked them for $250 a plate in order to bring awareness to sexual minorities and pay for his hospital bills, according to AFP.

Mao Sugiyama, the Japanese artist, refers to himself as asexual and had his private parts surgically removed this spring. He then kept them frozen until he cooked them for his diners on May 13, the AFP reported, though he considered ingesting his own genitals at first.

In order to bring awareness to his cause, Sugiyama tweeted, “ am offering my male genitals (full penis, testes, scrotum) as a meal for 100,000 yen [$1,250]. I’m Japanese. The organs were surgically removed at age 22. I was tested to be free of venereal diseases. The organs were of normal function. I was not receiving female hormone treatment. The length at full erection was 16.1 cm [6.3 inches]. First interested buyer will get them, or I will also consider selling to a group. Will prepare and cook as the buyer requests, at his chosen location. If you have questions, please contact me by DM or e-mail.

He followed up with the tweet to let his followers know his private parts were thawing along with a photo, Calorie Lab said.

He served his braised genitals with mushrooms and parsley and did not disappoint. The five diners who paid for the meal wondered when the 22-year-old artist would be doing it again.

He responded in a tweet, “But there is only one set of male organ. Unfortunately, I have no plan for the next time.”

Since cannibalism is not illegal in Japan no laws were broken.

“We are aware of the case. There was nothing (criminal) to it. It does not violate any detailed rules. There is nothing to take action about,” an officer at Suginami police station explained to AFP.
