Snow White and the Huntsman is debuting in theaters June 1, and fans of the old Disney movie are patiently waiting to see how director Rupert Sanders’ version of the classic tale compares to Tarsem Singh’s Mirror Mirror, another 2012 Snow White flick.

The Internet Movie Data Base describes Snow White and the Huntsman as “… a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.”

The star-studded cast includes Twilight actress Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen “Ravenna,” and Chris Hemsworth as “The Huntsman.”

It’s going to be an important movie for Kristen Stewart because she will be proving to the world whether or not she will always be dominantly known as Bella Swan, her character from Twilight.

Snow White and the Huntsman directer Rupert Sanders told the Huffington Post in an interview that he though Kristen did a fantastic job as Snow White.

“To me, casting is all about finding a character within the actor off the screen as much as on the screen,” he said. “I think Kristen is incredibly brave.”

What may come as a surprise to some, her first big role was not in Twilight but in the popular movie Panic Room. Sander’s explained to the website why her role in that movie wasn’t as memorable.

“My theory is a simple theory: She played such a good version Bella Swan, people think Kristen Stewart is Bella Swan,” he said. “She’s not, you know? If you meet Kristen, she’s wildly kind of giggly and vivacious and rebellious and naughty — all things that Bella Swan isn’t.”

Though Mirror Mirror already premiered a few months ago, Sanders does not believe his Snow White flick will pale in comparison.
