Assemblyman James D. Conte (R,I,C,WF-Huntington Station) announced that local libraries will receive over $183,000 in construction grants to support the continued efforts of public libraries to educate and enlighten. The grants are supported by a $14 million capital-fund appropriation in the 2011 state budget, which Assemblyman Conte helped to pass.
Local public libraries receiving grants include:
* Bethpage Public Library will receive $100,000 to replace failing HVAC equipment for energy conservation and increased efficiency
* South Huntington Public Library will receive $83,023 for renovations, upgrades and modifications.
“Local libraries are an excellent resource for New Yorkers of all ages. They are a place for enjoyment as well as resources for New Yorkers who are looking to change careers or start their own business,” said Conte. “I am proud that I could have been a part of this accomplishment.”
