This week the varsity baseball team played the undefeated Wantagh team. In game one, the team fell short by a score of 8-7. Nick Perrone threw a complete game with nine strikeouts. He gave up five earned runs. Juniors Fran Terrero and Anthony Simone had three and two hits apiece. In game two, Wantagh won 10-1 by a well-pitched game by Kevin Sprecht. In game three, Anthony Simone took the mound and handed Wantagh their first loss of the season by the score of 4-2. Simone pitched six strong innings while Brendan Parnell pitched the last inning for the save. John Tomasini had a two RBI single in the fifth inning to give NHP a 4-1 lead.
In a non-league game against Levittown Division which was played at Farmingdale State College, the Gladiators won 4-3. Diego Dilone earned the win giving up three hits in four innings of work. Anthony Simone went two for three and scored two runs in the win.
The last three-game series of the season was against the Jericho Jayhawks. The Gladiators came out swinging by the score of 12-1. Fran Terrero was three for four with two RBIs. John Tomasini was two for three with an RBI. Junior Chris Dunne had a RBI single as well. Game two saw NHP win 5-3. Anthony Simone threw a complete game. He gave up one earned run, one walk, and struck out six batters. Anthony Vaglica went one for three with one RBI.
In game three, the Gladiators completed the sweep by the score of 4-0. Junior Ryan Sheridan pitched six and two-thirds innings of four hit balls with four strikeouts. Joe Carbone went two for three. Paul Reo went one for three with two RBIs. In the top of the seventh inning with the bases loaded, Brendan Parnell came in to strikeout the last batter of the game.
