New Hyde Park Fire District Marlins Win Upper Farms Division. Team members are: Dean Caldwell, Daniel Garcia, Justin Cosgrove, Alessandro Gullo, Michael Femia, Stephen DeRocchis, Danny Simmons, Anthony Schembeck, Philip Schurr, Alfred Squiccarino, Michael Morrone, Adam Miller. The coaches are Phil Schurr and Arturo Gullo.

Merillon (Baxter’s) BOLTS Win Spring League Championship With 12-0-1 Defeating Garden City Red 16-3

The Merillon BOLTS ran their record to 12-0-1 by defeating the Garden City Red 16-3 to take the Spring League 10U title. Jillian “Cool” Cooper had a hit and scored  four runs in the win. Jillian also pitched two scoreless innings, striking out three and made a running one-handed catch. Lauren Valencia had a big hit and scored two runs.

Daniella “K” Connor had a hit and scored two runs. Daniella also pitched two strong innings and struck out three. Lauren “Lights Out” Wasserman had two hits, one a three-run home run in the fourth inning to break the game wide open. Lauren also pitched two strong innings, only giving up one run and striking out five batters. Cece Schnall scored a run and had a great day catching behind the plate. Cece also had a put out at third base on an attempted steal. Cece blocks a base like a hockey goalie, no one gets past her.

Samantha Grenard walked twice and scored a run. Gabby Ranieri went two for two and scored a run and made a great play in right field to save a run. Haylie Lempert walked twice and scored a run. Amber Roggendorf walked twice and scored a run. Amber caught a fly ball hit to her in right field to save a run.

Sarah Bush had a single and a double and scored three runs. Sarah also threw out a runner at third base trying to steal.

Kaitlyn Stoyer walked once and scored a big run. Katie Gray and Maggie Cullimore both walked once.

The Merillon BOLTS ended the season 12-0-1 and won the 2012 10U Spring League Championship with an undefeated season.

Hand Rolled Bagels Padres vs. Modell’s Sporting Goods Braves

The clouds lifted just in time to allow the Padres and Braves to take the field in the final game of the season. Leading the Brave’s offensive output was Kenny Hirschfeld and Alan Sikora with four hits each. Ryan Wasserman had three hits and a towering double. Also contributing to the offense was Christian Sikiric, Michael Paladino, Edward Mauceri, Christopher Chin and Anthony Levia with three hits each.

The defense was led by Duhan Lee, Ryan, Kenny and Christopher with one stellar play after another. Kenny made a spectacular diving catch. Christopher had several steady plays at first base. The final out of the game was a great cap on the season for the Braves. Duhan fielded a hot grounder down the line at third and then fired a long strike to Ryan at first who made a great stretch to get the runner just in time. What a play, the crowd went wild. The coaches are proud of their team. They did a great job all season long and are a special bunch of boys.
